When can I afford to retire in Ontario?
Combine your current savings, future contributions, CPP, OAS and pension income to estimate what retirement could look like and whether your target spending is on track.
Your retirement plan
Income in retirement
CPP and OAS defaults are reference amounts only. Your actual entitlements may differ materially. Use your own estimates whenever possible.
*A simplified planning signal using a 4% annual withdrawal assumption plus entered pension income. It does not model taxes, investment volatility, sequence-of-returns risk, OAS recovery tax, GIS, lifespan, account-specific tax treatment or changing spending.
How this Ontario retirement calculator works
Your investments are projected from today to retirement using the return and annual contribution assumptions you enter. Desired spending is increased by your inflation assumption. The result then compares that target with a simple 4% withdrawal from projected investments plus your entered CPP, OAS and pension amounts.
This is a planning tool, not a prediction. A proper retirement plan should also consider income tax, RRSP/RRIF withdrawals, TFSA treatment, investment volatility, longevity, housing, healthcare and estate goals.
2026 CPP and OAS reference amounts
For 2026, the maximum new CPP retirement pension at age 65 is $1,507.65 per month, while the average new CPP retirement pension reported for April 2026 is $877.01. For July through September 2026, the maximum OAS pension is $751.97 per month for ages 65 to 74 and $827.17 for age 75 and over.
The calculator defaults CPP to the published average and OAS to the current maximum for ages 65 to 74, but you should replace those values with your own expected amounts.
